Connect Distribution, Birmingham – Gas House & Distribution Office

As part of PMC Midlands on-going redevelopment and expansion of Connect Distribution's facilities in Birmingham, the brick gas house has been demolished as it was falling down due to subsidence and has been replaced with a steel frame building.

All groundwork was carried out to rectify subsidence issues, including laying new drainage and sewerage pipework and pump.

In addition a distribution office / customer pick-up point has been built to improve the national distribution centre’s customer facilities.

Both buildings have been constructed of steel portal frame with Micro-Rib composite panels fitted, in keeping with the existing site development and to meet the latest building regulations.

On the left of the photograph is the replaced Gas House and on the right the new distribution office/pick up point. A substantial amount of groundwork was required and the thru-way and parking areas have been resurfaced.
